Third Saturdays 2013
The April 2013 Third Saturday will be at the Carter G. Woodson Center for Interracial Education, Berea College, 101 Chestnut St., Berea, KY 40404 from 1:00-3:30 p.m. Pam Smith and E. Ann Neel will present: Endangered Lives: A Conversation Between Descendants of "Master" and Enslaved. Pam is a black communications consultant, while Ann is a white Professor Emerita of Sociology and Women Studies. While researching, it was discovered that one of Pam's enslaved ancestors on her mother’s side had actually been owned by one of Ann’s ancestors. The two tell about how this discovery affected their friendship.

The March 2013 Third Saturday was held on March 16th at the Georgetown-Scott County Museum, 229 E. Main St., Georgetown, KY. Dr. Lindsey Apple, Professor Emeritus at Georgetown College spoke on Scott County native Vice-President Richard Johnson and his relationship with mulatto slave, Julia Chinn, with whom he fathered two daughters. There were 45-50 of us attending this interesting and engaging program. We were given a lot to think about!

The February 2013 Third Saturday was held on February 16, 2013 at the SAR Genealogical Research Library, 809 West Main Street, Louisville, KY. There were presentations by Dr. Marion Lane from the DAR and Ric Murphy and Joseph Dooley from the SAR. The topic was "Black Patriots of the American Revolution: Tracing African-American Genealogy". There were about 30 in attendance. Many thanks to the NSSAR for a very informative and inspiring program!

The Second Anniversary of the founding of our group was held on Saturday, January 19, 2013 at the Woodford County Public Library in Versailles, KY. The folks who have presented our programs for the past two years were honored with a year's membership in the Group. There were refreshments, entertainment and a lot of story telling and sharing!! time was had by all!!
